I am greatly appreciative to President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China for inviting me to the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation and for the gracious welcome I have received.
I would like to thank all those who have made this event possible, especially to mark the tenth anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative. This progressive plan has earned many backers in a short time and become a model for international collaboration.
Uzbekistan, a comprehensive strategic partner of China, was one of the first countries to back the Belt and Road Initiative and we remain devoted to its objectives and goals.
We think that the Green Silk Road Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping is a major step towards a shared green future. It was first announced in our nation in 2016.
Central Asia is one of the most fragile regions in the world when it comes to climate change. Unusual weather conditions, droughts, dust storms, land degradation, desertification and loss of biodiversity are some of the difficulties we are dealing with.
Uzbekistan is devoted to developing extensive international cooperation as part of the “Green Silk Road”. We want to deepen our relationships with China and other Belt and Road Initiative participants.
We recommend connecting the Green Agenda of Central Asia and the Green Silk Road and developing a comprehensive Green Development Program. We are ready to collaborate with leading Chinese companies and create a Special Technological Demonstration Park in the Aral Sea region.
We support China’s initiative on the Green Investment Principles of the Belt and Road and intend to take part in its promotion. We also propose establishing a Green Financing Fund in Uzbekistan.
We urge the countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative to reduce restrictions and barriers in the mutual trade of green goods, especially agricultural products.
We also suggest launching a scientific and information platform for transferring green knowledge and solutions, a Joint Training and Academic Exchange Program in green development and ecology, and a Global Green Culture Development Program.
We are convinced that by unifying and increasing our efforts, we can build a solid foundation for a green future for humanity.
