President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got a closer look at the display of the tourism potential of Uzbekistan, presented at the “The Great Silk Road” International Tourist Center in Samarkand. This summit is a testament to the open-door policy of the country and its immense tourism potential.

To further encourage the growth of the tourism industry, a visa-free regime has been established for citizens of around 100 countries, and a simplified procedure for issuing an electronic visa has been implemented for citizens of another 55 countries.

The tourism infrastructure is advancing, and the number of hotels, tourist attractions, and routes is increasing. This year alone, 15 thousand new hotel beds have been created, and their total number has reached 140 thousand. 540 recreational facilities have been constructed, and 70 tourist routes have been opened. 6 private airlines began operating.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted the presence of considerable untapped potential and expressed that the major UNWTO summit is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate this.

The exhibition showcases the tourism and investment potential of 14 regions of the country: the possibilities of such places as Zaamin, Charvak, Chimgan, and other recreational areas, tourist villages, and ecological and extreme tourism locations.

Stands of the Tourism Committee, Uzbekistan Airways, Uzbekistan Airports, and Uzbekistan Helicopters are organized. Part of the exhibition is devoted to the tourism potential of Central Asian nations and startup projects implemented in collaboration with foreign partners.

During the exhibition, promising projects worth $2 billion will be presented to investors.

The President of Uzbekistan surveyed the exhibition pavilions with the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Zurab Pololikashvili. He gave instructions to create tourist facilities around landmark locations in the regions, broaden the conditions for visiting them, and form a portfolio of specific investment projects.
