SEOUL, Aug. 11 (Yonhap) — Korea Electric Power Corp. announced on Friday that its second-quarter net loss amounted to 1.9 trillion won (US$1.4 billion), continuing to be in the red as opposed to a year ago.
The company stated in a regulatory filing that its operating deficit for the April-June period was 2.27 trillion won, a decrease from the 6.51 trillion won it had posted in the same period the year prior. Sales increased by 26.4 percent to 19.62 trillion won.
The loss was 11.8 percent lower than the average prediction, according to a survey by Yonhap Infomax, the financial data firm of Yonhap News Agency.
