The World Health Organization (WHO) has bestowed upon Turkmenistan another certificate of recognition in the field of medicine. This Certificate of the European Technical Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (ETAGE) is an indication of the international community’s acknowledgement of Turkmenistan’s accomplishments in public health protection. In honor of this event, a conference titled “Arkadagyň ýola goýan saglyk sahabaty – bagtyýar durmuşyň gözbaşy” was held at the Myrat Garryev State Medical University.

The forum was attended by high-ranking government officials, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan, heads of UN agencies in the country, the faculty and staff of the university, medical professionals, and student representatives. The Certificate confirms that Turkmenistan has achieved the regional targets for combating hepatitis B through immunization, and that this feat is of great significance in the effort to eliminate viral hepatitis as a public health threat in the entire European region.

The success of Turkmenistan’s healthcare sector is the result of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov’s socially-oriented policy and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s continuous implementation of it. The “Saglyk” State Program and other national programs are designed to address the key tasks in this sector. The international community, including the United Nations and its leading agencies such as WHO, UNDP, UNICEF, and others have praised the extensive work carried out within the framework of these programs, and have awarded Turkmenistan and its medical institutions with various certificates.

Due to the extensive transformations initiated by the Hero-Arkadag, a modern healthcare infrastructure has been established in Turkmenistan. Medical centers, specialized clinics, and sanatoriums equipped with the latest technology have been built in the capital and regions, and new specialized facilities are being constructed. This provides citizens with access to high-quality medical and health services that comply with international standards. Furthermore, the immunization levels of the population have been significantly increased.

The strategy of reducing the population’s disease rate is consistently being implemented under the leadership of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The country is also strengthening and expanding its fruitful interaction with foreign partners, thus making a concrete contribution to the development of constructive cooperation in the healthcare sector at the regional and global levels. Joint projects and programs in various areas of healthcare are being implemented in partnership with the WHO and UN agencies, and the exchange of experiences, deepening of scientific research activities, and training of highly qualified specialists are taking place. The promotion of a healthy and active lifestyle in society is also being encouraged.

The conference participants expressed their gratitude to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov for his constant attention to the issues of further improvement of the national healthcare system and the support provided in strengthening effective international cooperation in this area, which is considered one of the important factors in achieving the global Sustainable Development Goals.
