The Senate of the Oliy Majlis held a gathering with World Bank delegates to discuss projects to enhance human capital and promote gender parity. Representatives from various ministries and agencies, as well as World Bank experts, were present at the dialogue.
The World Bank conducted several studies and compiled a report based on the outcomes of a gender assessment in Uzbekistan. It included four categories: gender norms and social expectations, human capital, economic opportunity, and actions to increase the voice and freedom of women in the nation.
Ministries and agencies discussed the efforts made in Uzbekistan to protect the rights and interests of women, increase their economic, social, and political activity, and ensure gender equality. They pointed out that the country has implemented significant reforms lately and that the results should be reflected in the report.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to refine the final document.
