Archaeologists, with Professor Abdulhamid Anorboyev in charge, who are conducting research in Akhsikent, have finished excavating the foundations of the open-air museum.
A trench was dug in August-September this year for the open-air museum. It is 2.1 meters wide, 1.5 meters deep, and 40 meters long. Its south-north direction starts at 23.5 meters. In this area, a defensive wall from the 9th-13th centuries was identified from the 19th excavation site.
The ancient and medieval defensive walls of the 19th century were also found on a natural hill. However, they lost their significance for a time. In the first quarter of the 13th century, a weak defensive wall was constructed on it.
The underground waterway and defensive walls from the second town to the western suburbs were determined from the actual dimensions of the raw bricks used and the bricklaying style in October this year.
“During these researches, a 1.2-meter-high part of the wall was uncovered and studied”, archaeologist Shukrullo Nasriddinov stated. “The distance between the strong wall of the previous period under it was 0.8 meters. This interval consists of a less dense layer. It consists mainly of waste, granular soil, smaller amounts of baked and raw brick fragments, and soil. Ceramics from the end of the 12th century and the beginning of the 13th century were found in the layer”.
It is noteworthy that many pottery items, pipes, and coins of different periods were found during the excavations.

Investigations Uncovering in Akhsikent
Archaeologists, led by Professor Abdulhamid Anorboyev, who are carrying out investigations in Akhsikent, have completed digging the foundations of the open-air museum.

In this section, a defensive wall from the 9th-13th centuries was identified from the 19th excavation site.
The ancient and medieval defensive walls of the 19th century were also detected on a natural hill. However, they lost their importance for some time. In the first quarter of the 13th century, a feeble defensive wall was constructed on it.
The underground waterway and defensive walls from the second town to the western suburbs were determined from the actual measurements of the raw bricks used and the bricklaying style in October this year.
“During these researches, a 1.2-meter-high part of the wall was exposed and examined”, archaeologist Shukrullo Nasriddinov declared. “The distance between the strong wall of the previous period under it was 0.8 meters. It is worth mentioning that many pottery items, pipes, and coins of different periods were found during the excavations.
