On Monday, the Financial Services Commission (FSC) reported that the government has reclaimed 71.4 percent of the 168.7 trillion won (US$124.8 billion) of public funds used to assist financially unstable companies during the 1997-1998 Asian financial crisis. This is an increase of 0.3 percentage points since the end of 2022.
In the third quarter alone, the FSC stated that the nation recovered 3.3 billion won from dividends from Woori Financial Group shares held by the government.
