Eldiyor Tashmatov, Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the United Nations Office and other international organizations at Geneva, met with Habip Asan, Director of the Division for Transition and Developed Countries at the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

The two parties held discussions regarding the preparations for the upcoming visit of WIPO Director General Daren Tang to Uzbekistan, which is scheduled to take place on May 27-28 of this year. This visit will mark the first time that the head of the organization has visited a country in Central Asia.

WIPO, an organization that brings together more than 180 countries, plays a crucial role in coordinating the protection of intellectual property and administering international agreements. Uzbekistan became a member of this organization in 1991 and has ratified approximately 20 international WIPO documents.

Habip Asan acknowledged the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan, which have received high praise from the United Nations. WIPO also recognizes and commends Uzbekistan’s efforts to promote intellectual property, integrate innovations into the economy, and establish regional brands.

The preparations for Daren Tang’s visit are being carried out at a high level, and his arrival in Uzbekistan will be a significant step towards strengthening cooperation between the country and WIPO.
