Uzbekistan has officially announced its intention to become a member of the United Nations Commission on Narcotic Drugs at the 68th session of the commission in Vienna. The meeting brought together more than 2,000 delegates from 164 countries and over 20 international organizations. The main topics of discussion were strategies for combating drug addiction, tackling drug-related crimes, and enhancing global collaboration in this field. During the session, the Uzbekistan delegation presented their national statement outlining their National Strategy for Combating Illicit Drug Trafficking for 2024-2028. They also hosted a special event showcasing their efforts in preventing drug abuse among women, combating drug trafficking from neighboring countries, and establishing specialized rehabilitation centers. Additionally, representatives from Uzbekistan took part in several meetings organized with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the European Union to strengthen international cooperation.
