The Chekhov classic, “The Cherry Orchard”, will be presented by the Moscow Drama Theater named after A.S. Pushkin on October 3, starring Victoria Isakova and Alexander Petrov. Vladimir Mirzoyev has directed the tragicomedy as a poetic and truthful depiction of the downfall of human destinies in the face of the decline of the empire.

On October 5, the independent Moscow theatre ENTRACTE will present “Einstein and Margarita” at the State Academic Russian Drama Theatre of Uzbekistan, based on a play by Alexander Gelman and inspired by real events. Ksenia Rappoport and Alexey Serebryakov will play the lead roles, having previously worked together on a film set, but appearing on stage together for the first time.

The story follows the meeting between Albert Einstein and Margarita, the spouse of a Russian emigre commissioned to sculpt a portrait of the famous physicist. Despite a difficult situation and a tumultuous time in the world, the two became close, and Margarita became Einstein’s only love for many years.
