The President of Uzbekistan has recently visited the newly formed metro line that combines both overground and underground sections. This project was initiated by the Head of State in 2017, and it has now been successfully completed.
The Sergeli line was opened in the first stage, and in the second stage, an elevated metro was built from Quyliq to Sergeli district. This line now creates a ring with the underground metro, and it takes 15 minutes to ride from the beginning to the end of the line.
The President expressed his joy at the success of the project and said, “If our people, our children, using this path, are satisfied with the state, then we have achieved our goal.”
The length of the Tashkent Metro has exceeded 70 kilometers, with 38 kilometers built after 1977 and 32 kilometers laid in the last 7 years. The number of stations has reached 50 and the daily passenger flow is expected to increase to 750 thousand people.
In addition, this year, the capital received a thousand new buses, increasing the daily number of passengers using public transport to 1.4 million. All this is essential in reducing the need for personal transport and congestion on the streets.
