On March 17th, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, had a meeting with a group of representatives from the United States, led by Carol Miller, a member of Congress and participant in the Congressional Caucus on Uzbekistan. During the meeting, they discussed ways to further develop and strengthen the strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the US. Congresswoman Miller conveyed greetings and well-wishes from the US President, Congressional leadership, and members of the Caucus on Uzbekistan. They expressed satisfaction with the current level of bilateral cooperation, including active political communication, increased trade and investment, and expanded business collaborations. Additionally, they discussed the presence of Webster University and the American University of Technology in Tashkent and the ongoing cooperation in areas such as transportation, customs, migration, and culture. Congresswoman Miller praised the progress of reforms in Uzbekistan, particularly in modernizing the economy, strengthening democratic institutions, and promoting gender equality. They also emphasized the importance of inter-parliamentary cooperation in supporting economic and investment projects in sectors like mining, industry, energy, and agriculture. The meeting also highlighted the significance of establishing partnerships between different regions of Uzbekistan and the United States. They also exchanged views on current regional issues and the situation in Afghanistan.
