On March 13, a meeting was held in the Palais Bourbon in Paris between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Speaker of the French National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet. The main topic of discussion was the expansion of interparliamentary exchanges between the two countries. Both sides expressed great satisfaction with the significance of the visit, which resulted in the establishment of a strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and France.
The Speaker of the lower house of the French Parliament praised the democratic reforms in Uzbekistan, which have strengthened the role of representative bodies, improved the rights of women, children, youth, and persons with disabilities, and enhanced environmental security. Discussions also included plans for the creation of a Uzbekistan-France Interparliamentary Forum and the resumption of friendship groups based on a cooperation roadmap.
The President of Uzbekistan invited the Speaker of the National Assembly to visit Uzbekistan and attend the 150th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in April in Tashkent. After the meeting, the President signed the Guest of Honor Book.
