Tajikistan’s Minister of Finance and Turkiye’s Minister of Treasury and Finance Discuss Changes to the Public Financial Management System

DUSHANBE, 05.01.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – Fayziddin Kahhorzoda, Minister of Finance of Tajikistan, and Mehmet Şimşek, Minister of Treasury and Finance of Turkiye, met in Ankara to discuss potential reforms to the public financial management system, particularly in the areas of education and health. The two talked about the digitalization of the public service system, the development of non-cash payments, the state electronic payment system, and the management of public finances. It was agreed that these meetings would help to study and share experiences for Tajikistan’s Public Finance Management Strategy for the period until 2030.

The parties expressed their willingness to increase their cooperation. As a result, a Memorandum of Understanding on economics and finance was signed between the Ministry of Finance of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Treasury and Finance of the Turkiye. The MoU was signed by Kahhorzoda and Şimşek, and is anticipated to enhance the efficiency of public financial management.

Kahhorzoda also met with the President of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency Serkan Kayalar. They discussed current issues and the potential for cooperation in economics and trade, education and healthcare, energy, agriculture, and other sectors. The meeting also focused on other areas of collaboration.
