On September 2, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Mausoleum of Islam Karimov in the Hazrat Khizr complex in Samarkand and paid homage to the memory of the First President by laying flowers at his grave. The verses from the Quran and the dua were recited.
Islam Abduganiyevich Karimov declared the independence of Uzbekistan, restored statehood, maintained stability in a difficult period of the history and ensured the interests of people.
Under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, our people honorably remember the First President. In accordance with the resolution of the Head of state of January 25, 2017, extensive work has been carried out to keep the legacy of the First President alive. Numerous institutions in our country, central streets in cities are named after Islam Karimov. A scientific and enlightenment memorial complex named after Islam Karimov was created in Tashkent, and a mausoleum was built for him in Samarkand.
Our people, who revere their outstanding sons, respectfully remember the name of the First President. This commemoration ceremony is also a tribute to the memory of the departed and an example for the younger generation.
The ceremony was attended by members of parliament and government, representatives of public organizations, and labor veterans.
Following the event, the Head of state returned to Tashkent.
