The city of Khanabad in Andijan, Uzbekistan is hosting the International Pop Art Festival ‘Melodies of the World’.

The Republic of Uzbekistan’s Minister of Culture and Tourism, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, and the Hokim of Andijan region, Shukhratbek Abdurakhmonov, were in attendance. Pop music groups and performers from more than 20 countries were present, showcasing the nation’s values and tourism potential.

This festival has been initiated by the President of Uzbekistan to promote pop art, familiarize people with the works of famous pop stars, and to foster international relations and artistic and aesthetic thinking among the youth.

The audience were delighted by the performances of Uzbek pop stars, as well as popular disco groups, Dr. Alban, Boney M, and the Ottawan group.

The artists of these groups, along with the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, O. Nazarbekov, the Hokim of Andijan region, Sh. Abdurakhmonov, and the head of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), Sultan Raev, planted decorative trees in Khanabad.

‘I’m glad to be a part of the International Festival in Uzbekistan,’ said Alban Uzoma Nwapa, founder of the Dr. Alban group. ‘I’m pleased that the organizers invited us to plant trees to commemorate the event. I’m sure that in the years to come, the seedlings we planted will become big trees, purify the environment, and remind us of the Dr. Alban group.’
