DUSHANBE, 31.01.2024 (NIAT Khovar) — Tajikistan and the Islamic Development Bank (IDB) have signed a Loan Agreement, a Grant Agreement for Technical Assistance, a Framework Agreement, and an Agency Agreement. These agreements will provide funding for the second phase of the project “Support for the Implementation of the National Education Development Strategy.”
The Minister of Finance, Fayziddin Kahhorzoda, and the IDB Regional Director for Central Asia, Ibrahim Shukri, signed the agreements.
The purpose of this funding is to improve the learning environment and strengthen the education system in Tajikistan. This will be achieved through the renovation and expansion of school infrastructure, the establishment and expansion of a system for continuous professional development for teachers, the implementation of national assessment of learning, and monitoring of educational achievements.
The total value of the agreements is $70 million, with $45 million provided through concessional loans from the IDB and $25 million through a grant from the Global Education Partnership Fund, administered by the IDB.
