DUSHANBE, 03.10.2023 (NIAT Khovar) – Visual inspections from the air and on-site investigations are being conducted on glaciers in the upper Zarafshon River basin.
The surveys are a joint effort by the Committee for Environmental Protection and the Agency for Hydrometeorology.
Each year, off-season expeditions and aerial examinations are conducted to evaluate the snow reserves and condition of glaciers in the country, as part of President Emomali Rahmon’s fifth initiative to declare 2025 the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation, and to implement the action plan of the State Program for study and protection of glaciers in Tajikistan for 2010-2030.
Industry equipment was used to carry out scientific work.
