Collaborating to Ensure the Safety of Youngsters

The Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tanzila Narbayeva, welcomed UNICEF’s Regional Director for Europe and Central Asia, Regina De Dominicis, on a working visit to the country. Both discussed how to enhance their alliance and create initiatives that prioritize the safety of children. Ideas were presented to carry out the Second National Nutrition Survey in 2024-2025, assess the condition of perinatal health, growth and development of children, promote the prevention and treatment of hereditary diseases, and reinforce the social protection system for children.

The conversation also focused on ameliorating the legal and institutional framework of education, inclusive learning, and healthcare. It was agreed to cooperate to further expand the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) scope with the UNICEF office in Uzbekistan, and include professionals from government organizations and civil society institutions. Moreover, the significance of hastily implementing a national action plan to execute the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child was underlined.

The parties agreed to foster constructive and effective cooperation through practical projects. Norgul Abduraimova, UzA
