South Korea and Bahrain Discuss Trade and Investment Cooperation

On Friday, the Minister of Trade of South Korea, Ahn Duk-geun, met with Bahrain’s Ambassador to South Korea, Mohamed Ghassan Mohamed Adnan Shaikho, to discuss ways to increase bilateral trade and investment, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.

The two sides are negotiating a free trade agreement between South Korea and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), composed of Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar and Kuwait. The last round of negotiations took place in February.

Government data shows that the trade between South Korea and Bahrain reached an all-time high of US$1.6 billion in 2023.
