Six New Entities Created in the Sughd Free Economic Zone in 2023

DUSHANBE, 20.02.2024 (NIAT Khovar) – In the year 2023, the Sughd free economic zone (FEZ) welcomed six new entities, bringing the total number of operating entities to 35. Out of these, 22 are involved in various activities such as production, construction, services, and trade. This was announced by the head of the Sughd FEZ Administration, Muhammad Muhammadzoda, during a press conference.

According to Muhammadzoda, the total value of industrial products produced in the FEZ in 2023 was 352.9 million somoni, which is an increase of 10.2 million somoni compared to the previous year.

During the same period, the FEZ exported its products to several countries including Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iraq, Turkey, Russia, and Afghanistan.

The FEZ also saw a rise in direct investments, with a total of 32.0 million somoni invested in 2023, which is 8.3 million somoni higher than the previous year.

In terms of employment, the FEZ provided a total of 910 jobs in 2023, with 111 new jobs being created during the year.
