Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of Uzbekistan, Participates in the Summit of Central Asian Leaders with the Federal President of Germany

On September 29th, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of the Republic of Uzbekistan was present at the summit of Central Asian heads of state with Federal President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, as part of his working visit to Germany.

The meeting was attended by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan, President Sadyr Zhaparov of Kyrgyzstan, President Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan, and National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Discussions at the summit revolved around enhancing political dialogue, increasing trade and economics, transport and communications, and cultural and humanitarian collaboration. Views were also shared regarding current issues related to regional security and sustainable development, such as those within the scope of European Union programs.

President Mirziyoyev spoke about the opportunities for collaboration in the “Central Asia – Germany” format. He focused on areas of priority for partnership, including high technology and innovative development, transport communications, green energy, vocational education, and cultural and academic exchanges.

The President of Uzbekistan expressed satisfaction with the growing presence of German companies and banks in his country. He also noted the great interest among Uzbek youth in learning the German language, with almost 300 thousand students currently enrolled in German language courses.

President Steinmeier congratulated the Uzbek Leader on the successful exhibition of cultural and historical heritage at the renowned James Simon Gallery in Berlin. Over 200 thousand Berliners and visitors to the city had the chance to visit the exhibition in a few months.
