On September 20, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, welcomed the Chair of the renowned American financial corporation, Citigroup, John Dugan, in New York City.
The President expressed his satisfaction with the fruitful relationship between Uzbekistan and the American company, which enabled the successful placement of bonds from Uzbek banks and state-owned enterprises on international stock markets.
He also gave his approval for Citigroup’s plans to open a subsidiary of Citibank in Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, the two discussed ways to strengthen collaboration in the banking and financial sector, increase the attractiveness and liquidity of securities on the stock market, and attract foreign investors to the capital market of Uzbekistan.
The two parties agreed to an action plan to enhance collaboration with the American corporation, setting out effective mechanisms and specific deadlines for implementation.
