On August 18, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held an open dialogue with entrepreneurs to celebrate Entrepreneurs Day. At the meeting, the Head of state congratulated those present and reviewed the results of the initiatives put forward in previous meetings. 57 initiatives were proposed in 2021 and 55 in 2020, which have significantly simplified the process of doing business.
The President highlighted five main areas, each of which includes several initiatives. The first direction is to provide new opportunities for small businesses, such as creating an integral system for training, financing, and searching for a market for their products and business partners. The second direction is to support entrepreneurs who want to move from small to medium-sized businesses. The third direction is to enter new markets with a quality and competitive product. The fourth direction is to increase highly profitable enterprises, and the fifth is to simplify tax administration and eliminate bureaucracy.
Due to the initiatives, the number of small entrepreneurs increased by 40,000, the number of medium-sized entrepreneurs rose from 2,000 to 10,000, the number of large enterprises grew by 400 to 1.5 thousand, and the annual foreign investments reached $10 billion. It was also announced that the program “New Uzbekistan – a country of competitive products” will be continued this year, and the number of enterprises covered will increase to 500.
At the end of the open dialogue, the President noted that as long as there are courageous and enterprising businessmen, the country will achieve its goals. Responsible persons were given instructions on the proposals and problems voiced by entrepreneurs.
