Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kristalina Georgieva Converse on Expanding Collaboration between Uzbekistan and the IMF

On September 18, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, met at Mirziyoyev’s residence in New York City. They conversed about the global economy and ways to further foster beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IMF, in accordance with the agreements concluded during the bilateral meeting in Samarkand in June.

Georgieva praised the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan and expressed her readiness to continue providing support in the implementation of effective reforms in the country. During the meeting, the two parties discussed the IMF’s participation in conducting a comprehensive analysis of the national financial sector, offering advisory services to devise proposals for improving economic policy, and executing a program to increase the capacity of specialists from Uzbekistan’s departments.
