The President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of France, Emmanuel Macron, ceremonially opened the Samarkand branch of the French Alliance. Founded in Paris in 1883 by Jules Verne and Louis Pasteur, the Alliance is a non-profit organization that promotes French culture and language. It has 800 branches in 137 countries, with the first one in Uzbekistan established in Tashkent in 2015.
The modernly equipped center can accommodate up to 200 people who are interested in French language and literature. The opening of the Alliance in Samarkand is expected to bolster the bonds of friendship between the two countries.
