At a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, it was decided that Shakhrisabz Airport should expand its passenger air traffic. Beginning on January 1, new ATR aircraft will be introduced to the airport, and the number of domestic flights to Samarkand, Bukhara, Khorezm, and valley areas will increase. Additionally, the frequency of flights from Tashkent to Karshi will be increased from two to seven times a week, resulting in a decrease in airfare and a threefold increase in foreign and local tourists.
The responsible officials were instructed to ease the requirements for crossing the Takhtaqoracha pass. To this end, a new tunnel and road will be built on the pass, and a 30-kilometer road connecting Samarkand and Shakhrisabz will be repaired with the aid of Chinese investors. Furthermore, $122.5 million will be allocated to repair a portion of the 100-kilometer Guzar – Bukhara – Nukus – Beyneu road passing through Kashkadarya region. The goal is to increase the number of foreign tourists to 500 thousand by the end of next year.
