Sensex rallies for 3rd day, closes 712 points higher; Tata Steel surges 7.27 per cent

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], July 29 (ANI): The Indian stock market’s key indices, Sensex and Nifty, continued their upward trend for the third consecutive day on Friday, with strong buying seen in metal, financial, and energy stocks.
The Sensex, comprising of 30 stocks from the S&P BSE, surged by 712.46 points or 1.25 per cent to close at 57,570.25 points, compared to its previous day’s closing of 56,857.79 points.
This marks the third consecutive day of gains for the Indian stock market, with the Sensex having gained 1041.47 points or 1.87 per cent on Thursday.
Opening at 57,258.13 points, the Sensex reached a high of 57,619.27 points during intra-day trading, and a low of 57,104.81 points.
The broader Nifty 50 of the National Stock Exchange also saw a significant increase of 228.65 points or 1.35 per cent, closing at 17,158.25 points, compared to its previous day’s closing of 16,929.60 points.
Tata Steel saw a surge of 7.27 per cent to Rs 107.65, while Sun Pharma saw a rise of 5.45 per cent to Rs 943.55 after announcing strong quarterly numbers.

Sun Pharma reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 2,060.88 crore for the quarter ended June 30, showing a year-on-year growth of 42.70 per cent compared to Rs 1,444.17 crore recorded in the same period last year.
Bajaj Finserv and Bajaj Finance, both part of the Bajaj twins, saw a surge for the second consecutive day, with Bajaj Finserv gaining 2.64 per cent to Rs 15039.30 and Bajaj Finance soaring by 1.87 per cent to Rs 7208.90.
Reliance Industries Limited, an index heavyweight, also saw a rise of 2.10 per cent to Rs 2508.75.
Other major Sensex gainers included IndusInd Bank, Asian Paints, Infosys, Wipro, HDFC, NTPC, and Bharti Airtel, with buying support seen across the board. Only five of the 30 stocks that make up the Sensex closed in the red, including Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, Kotak Bank, SBI, ITC, and Axis Bank. (ANI)
