VATICAN/SEOUL, Sept. 14 (Yonhap) — Samsung Electronics Co. has completed the installation of four LED billboards at St. Peter’s Square in the Vatican, the location of the Pope’s weekly address.
The billboards were ready in time for the Papal Audience, a general audience session held every Wednesday morning for Catholic followers and tourists visiting the sacred site.

A delegation from Samsung visited the Vatican to meet Pope Francis on Wednesday morning, followed by a meeting with Cardinal Lazarus You Heung-sik, the Vatican’s Secretary of State for the Clergy.
Cardinal You is the first Korean cleric to hold a Vatican ministerial role and the fourth Korean to be granted cardinal status. He is said to have been involved in bringing Samsung’s billboards to the Vatican.

Replacing the outdated Panasonic Holdings Co. billboards from 2007, Samsung’s new signs offer high-quality images even in direct sunlight and reduce energy consumption by half.
Two of the screens measure 7.935 meters in width and 4.830m in height, while the other two are 5.865m x 3.105m — nearly the same size as the old ones, as requested by the Vatican.
Due to the religious nature of the installation, Samsung’s logo is printed small and in light gray at the bottom of the billboards with an ivory bezel.
