At the opening of the International Conference on Food Security, held in Samarkand, FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu expressed his congratulations to the participants and drew attention to the fact that the event is taking place in Uzbekistan for a particular purpose.
– I firmly believe that this Central Asian state is a place where the finest and highest quality food products are cultivated, – the distinguished guest said.
He also observed that the world community and the region recognize Uzbekistan’s current political and socio-economic stability. He also recalled that this holy land is the birthplace of ancient civilizations, and expressed his conviction that the country will reach this level again due to the current efforts and the development process. He further pointed out that at the present time, the development of agriculture to meet modern requirements and the achievement of food security are major objectives, and Uzbekistan’s sunny land plays a crucial role in this, without which progress in the agricultural sector on a global scale is impossible.
