The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, will be making a working visit to the city of Astana on June 17, upon receiving an invitation from President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This visit is in order for President Mirziyoyev to participate in the second “Central Asia – China” summit. The event will be attended by the leaders of the region as well as President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China. The summit will focus on furthering multilateral cooperation in various areas such as politics, trade, economics, and culture. Discussions will also cover important regional and international issues. It is expected that joint agreements will be reached during the summit. In addition, President Mirziyoyev will also hold a separate meeting with President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the summit. It is worth noting that the first summit in this format took place in the Chinese city of Xi’an in May 2023, with the aim of strengthening partnerships and expanding practical cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and China.
