President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev Meets with Heads of Foreign States

On August 20, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with the Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić and Head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov on the sidelines of the World Athletics Championships in Budapest.

Discussions were held on the current topics of bilateral practical cooperation. The leaders also watched the Men’s 100m Final at the World Athletics Championships.

The 19th World Athletics Championships are taking place at the new National Athletics Center in Budapest from 19 to 27 August 2023. Medals are awarded in 49 types of the program – 24 types for men and women, as well as in the mixed relay. More than 2,000 athletes from over 190 countries are participating in the competition.

Five athletes from Uzbekistan are also competing in the championships in the high jump, triple jump, long jump, heptathlon, and marathon. The winners of the championships and those who have met the Olympic standards will be qualified to take part in the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
