At a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Founders of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea in Dushanbe, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan proposed the creation of a Regional Centre for Technologies Related to Climate Change in Central Asia. He stated that this was a vital step in developing a strategic approach to environmental issues in the region.
The Turkmenistan leader also recommended that the countries of Central Asia speed up the process of adopting international documents that are aimed at conserving and using water resources in the region responsibly. He offered to increase diplomatic efforts in this direction together.
