Celebration of Taekwondo in Nukus to Commemorate International Day

On September 4th, a festive event was held in Nukus, Uzbekistan to mark International Taekwondo Day. Approximately 500 people, including athletes and coaches, participated in the festival. The occasion was also used to recognize the efforts of the country to promote the sport among youth.

As per the resolution of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev issued on July 29th, 2022, a variety of activities have been carried out to make taekwondo (WT) more popular and to find, train, and prepare skilled athletes. Currently, 1,500 boys and girls are being coached by 50 qualified instructors in sports clubs across the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

In the 2022/2023 academic year, taekwondo players from the region won over 120 medals at the championship of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the championship of Uzbekistan, and international tournaments.

The festival featured classes with instructors and athletes, as well as demonstrations of the martial art.
