New Border Crossing Point with China to Open in September 2024

AKIPRESS.COM – During a bilateral meeting between Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev and Xinjiang Governor Erikn Tuniyazov, important topics of cooperation were discussed.

The delegations explored ways to improve the efficiency of the Irkeshtam and Torugart border crossing points.

The Cabinet has announced plans to open a new Bedel border crossing point in September 2024.

Additionally, plans are underway to establish joint trade and production parks in Naryn region and Kashgar with the goal of facilitating the export of domestic products to China.

According to statistics, Kyrgyzstan has the potential to export up to 732,000 tons of agricultural products to Xinjiang annually.

Bakyt Torobaev proposed the establishment of a quarantine phytosanitary and veterinary laboratory in Kyrgyzstan.

Xinjiang Governor Erkin Tuniyaz expressed interest in importing ecologically clean agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan.

The meeting covered 12 agenda items related to transportation, construction, trade, energy, mining, aviation, culture, and humanitarian issues.

“We discussed and received reports on all important matters and areas of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and China. I am confident that these meetings and exchanges of views will lead to new agreements that will benefit both parties,” stated Bakyt Torobaev.
