SEOUL, Nov. 4 (Yonhap) — According to officials from the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, over 3.1 million cows out of the total 4.07 million in South Korea have been vaccinated against lumpy skin disease (LSD). This equates to more than 76 percent of all cattle in the country receiving shots to protect them from the highly infectious disease, which can lead to death but does not affect humans.
So far, 77 cases of LSD have been confirmed in South Korea, including two new cases from Friday. The government has stated its intention to vaccinate all cattle by next Friday.
Quarantine officials are seen vaccinating cattle against lumpy skin disease at a farm in Gyeongsan, 250 kilometers southeast of Seoul, on Nov. 1, 2023, as the infectious cattle disease is spreading nationwide. (Yonhap)
