Uzbekistan – Life Import LLC, a Chinese-Uzbek joint venture based in the city of Kokand, Fergana region, is set to manufacture 100 million syringes, 30 million infusion sets, and 33.5 million units of medical masks and gloves. The project’s total cost, initiated by entrepreneur Ahmadjan Khaydarov, is $5.5 million, of which $1 million is direct investment from the Chinese side. The Hokimiyat of Fergana region also provided a bank loan of $1.8 million to support the effort. The production is equipped with the most modern machines from China, and employs more than 120 people in two shifts. With the launch of this venture, the number of enterprises specializing in pharmaceutical and medical equipment in Fergana region has reached 10.
