Kyrgyzstan’s Foreign Ministry Investigating Citizenship of Woman Detained in Turkey on Suspicion of Planning Terrorist Attack

AKIPRESS.COM – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has responded to reports of the detention of a Tajik citizen and a Kyrgyz native who are suspected of planning a terrorist attack in Istanbul.

The Ministry has stated that they are currently working to confirm the citizenship of the detained woman.

Turkish media has reported the detention of two suspects allegedly involved in a terrorist plot. One of them is believed to be a citizen of Kyrgyzstan. According to security forces, the suspects, who are suspected members of the Islamic State group, were tracked and detained in an apartment in Pendik district. During a search of the apartment, authorities found a gendarmerie uniform, a police vest and cap, a walkie-talkie, a gun holster, a knife, and electronic materials containing “instructions”.
