AKIPRESS.COM – The Interbank Processing Center has announced that it will stop servicing Russia’s Mir payment cards in Kyrgyzstan as of April 2. This decision comes after the Office of Foreign Assets Control imposed sanctions on the National System of Payment Cards, the operator of Mir payment system cards, on February 23.
The Interbank Processing Center, responsible for the uninterrupted operation of the Elcart national payment system, has made this decision in order to minimize the risk of secondary sanctions. As a result, Mir bank cards will no longer be serviced starting April 5th.
However, Elcard payment cards will continue to be operational in Kyrgyzstan without any restrictions on all banking devices. The statement from the Interbank Processing Center assures that Elcart bank cards will still be serviced in Kyrgyzstan despite the changes in Russia.
