On Wednesday, South Korean telecom giant KT Corp. announced the appointment of Kim Young-shub as its new chief executive, finally ending a months-long leadership vacuum. The decision was approved by the company’s shareholders. Kim, the former CEO of IT service provider LG CNS Co., was chosen by KT’s board earlier this month.
The vacancy had been in place since March, when Ku Hyeon-mo resigned from the position after failing to receive a second term approval from shareholders. The National Pension Service, KT’s largest shareholder, had refused to endorse any of the subsequent CEO nominees and directors.
