On Tuesday, the Korea Exchange (KRX) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to boost the relationship between South Korea and Central and South America’s capital markets. The agreement will enable the two organizations to share information and develop new business opportunities.

“We are looking forward to facilitating collaboration between financial institutions in the two regions, such as securities firms and asset management companies, through joint ventures between the KRX and the IDB,” said KRX CEO Sohn Byung-doo.

Ilan Goldfajn, the head of IDB, also expressed his optimism that the KRX’s experience would be beneficial in improving the financial markets of the Latin American region.

The IDB is an international financial institution founded in 1959 to promote the economic growth of Latin American and Caribbean countries.
