Korean Air, South Korea’s leading airline, announced on Monday that it had placed an additional order for 20 Airbus A321neo aircrafts, bringing its total number of A321neo orders to 50. The carrier had already made a previous order for 30 of the model, with eight having been delivered in December of last year.

The new fleet of next-gen Airbus planes will be used on Korean Air’s short and medium-haul routes to Southeast Asia, China and Japan. The airline also plans to acquire a total of 110 new aircrafts in the coming years, including 10 Boeing 787-9s, 20 Boeing 787-10s and 30 Boeing 737-8s, while retiring its A330-300 and Boeing 777-200ER fleets.
