On Monday, the Seoul-based company revealed that their third-quarter net profit had increased by 64.4% to 204.1 billion won (US$157.3 million). Operating profit for the quarter was 271.9 billion won, which was higher than the 179.2 billion won seen in the same period the year before. However, revenue had dropped by 21.4% to 2.1 trillion won.
The results exceeded expectations. According to a survey conducted by Yonhap Infomax, a financial data firm belonging to the Yonhap News Agency, analysts had predicted a net profit of 155.9 billion won.
