Kakao Bank Reports 21% Increase in Q3 Profit Thanks to Higher Interest Income

SEOUL, Nov. 8 (Yonhap) — South Korean online lender Kakao Bank announced on Wednesday that its net profit for the third quarter rose 21 percent year-on-year, due to an increase in interest income.

According to a regulatory filing, the third quarter net profit amounted to 94.5 billion won (US$72.7 million). Revenue also grew 59.4 percent year-on-year to 656.6 billion won, while operating income was up 21.9 percent to 127.5 billion won.

Over the first nine months of the year, the bank’s net profit increased 37.8 percent compared to the same period in 2020, reaching 279.2 billion won.
