South Korean construction unit HD Hyundai Construction Equipment Co. announced on Sunday that it has been awarded orders to provide their products for the Neom megacity project in Saudi Arabia and a lithium mine excavation plan in Argentina.
HD Hyundai Construction Equipment is a part of HD Hyundai Group, a conglomerate with businesses in shipbuilding and energy. As part of the Argentina contract, the company is set to deliver 23 construction equipment items, such as six excavators and three wheel loaders, to a lithium mine in Salta by the end of the month.
In the Saudi Arabia project, HD Hyundai Construction Equipment supplied 50 products, including 12 40-ton excavators and large wheel loaders, which were delivered last month. This 170-kilometer-long city, referred to as The Line, is projected to accommodate up to 9 million people and is a key component of the US$500 billion Neom megacity project.
“We are aiming to secure more deals in Latin American mining markets due to the growing demand for raw materials used to produce rechargeable batteries, and in Middle Eastern construction markets thanks to the increasing number of large-scale projects,” the statement said. No financial details were disclosed.
