On February 29, 2024, Tajikistan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) signed loan, grant, and project agreements to fund the reconstruction of the Sogd-500 substation. The Minister of Finance Fayziddin Kahhorzoda and the Head of the EBRD Representative Office in Tajikistan Holger Wiefel were the signatories of these agreements.
The main objective of this project is to modernize the power transmission system, ensure the stability of power lines, reduce electricity losses, and improve power supply in the northern regions of Tajikistan.
The total amount of these agreements is €35,400,000, with €23,000,000 in loans, €10,000,000 in grants, and €2,400,000 in technical assistance.
