According to the Minister of Energy Talaibek Ibraev, the recent increase in electricity rates in Kyrgyzstan is in line with inflation. He made this statement during a meeting with the Parliament Committee for Fuel and Energy Complex, Mining and Industrial Policy.

The Energy Minister clarified that this is part of a tariffing policy that was previously approved. He also mentioned that the electricity rate will now increase by 0.11 soms per 1 kWh.

The Minister further explained that the current electricity rate does not accurately reflect its actual cost. In fact, the rate should be 2.41 soms, which is significantly higher than the current rate.
