Tanzila Narbayeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, and Ms. Charlotte Adriaen, the Ambassador of the European Union to Uzbekistan, recently met to discuss the importance of the dialogue organized within the framework of the European Union – Uzbekistan Parliamentary Cooperation Committee.
The two parties focused on the progress of the “Inter Pares” project – “Cooperation of Parliaments”, a global program of the European Union to reinforce parliamentarism, which is executed by the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (IDEA) with expert support from the parliaments of EU partner countries.
They examined the priority aspects of the effective implementation of the project and the tasks that need to be accomplished in the direction of each component of the practical dialogue, such as financial control, gender equality issues, youth parliament, and e-parliament.
Both parties agreed to intensify relations with the European Union and its specialized departments in order to implement joint projects and programs to support priority areas of regional cooperation, sustainable development, social support for the population, and achievement of the SDGs.
