At the Global Investment Forum, which took place during the 25th session of the UNWTO General Assembly in Samarkand, the Hokim of Bukhara region Botir Zaripov held talks with the CEO of Abbas Abad Cultural and Tourism Complex in Tehran, Seyed Mohammad Hossein Hejazi, and the Vice-Prime Minister, Minister of Housing and Land Use Planning, the Minister of Tourism of Mauritius, Louis Steven Obeegadoo.
A meeting was also conducted with ministers, deputy ministers, advisors, and tourism sector specialists who had come from Russia, China, Qatar, Indonesia, Singapore, Canada, Austria, Germany, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, Venezuela, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
Five agreements on investments were signed to improve the tourism infrastructure and construct new tourist facilities in Bukhara region. It was decided to draw 500 thousand foreign tourists to the region in 2023-2024. Memorandums were also signed with foreign travel companies to bring 50 thousand tourists from Tajikistan, 30 thousand from Kyrgyzstan, 28 thousand from Turkmenistan, 30 thousand from China, and 25 thousand from Indonesia to the region in 2024.
