Preparations are underway for the upcoming international sports event – Challenge Samarkand Triathlon, hosted by the Challenge Family. The competition will take place on September 16-17 at the International Tourist Center “Great Silk Road” with the participation of the Ministry of Youth Policy and Sports, the National Olympic Committee, the Triathlon Federation of Uzbekistan, the Samarkand Regional Hokimiyat and other partner organizations.
Contestants will demonstrate their prowess in swimming, cycling, and running. Challenge Family is one of the most renowned brands of triathlon competitions held at various distances, drawing in over 50 thousand participants annually. It is anticipated that around 2 thousand athletes from more than 35 countries will take part in the Samarkand competition.
Shukhrat Ruziyev, head of the Samarkand Regional Department for Youth Policy and Sports, has stated that extensive work is being conducted to ensure the Challenge Samarkand is organised to the highest standard, which includes accommodating sports teams, improving the venues for competitions, and holding entertainment events for participants.
The Challenge Samarkand swimming event will be held in the pool of the Samarkand rowing canal, one of the largest in Asia. The cycling stage, consisting of two circles, will begin from the “Great Silk Road” tourist complex. During the cycling race, competitors will be able to take in the stunning views of the city’s historical sites. Tulqin Ruziyev, UzA
